Associate Professor Caroline Yoon

Associate Professor Caroline Yoon is a specialist in mathematics education. A major focus of her research is in the use of mathematical modelling activities for generating authentic mathematical thinking in students, and then analysing that mathematical thinking to map their conceptual development. Caroline has research interests in both secondary and tertiary mathematics education, was awarded a Beeby Fellowship in 2012 to develop the "LEMMA" series of mathematical activities which aim to enable students to move beyond memorizing and applying rules and to thing, work and communicate with higher level mathematical structures than they are usually exposed to in school mathematics curricula.
